OK so ive just had a look around for the master socket in my new place

Found it...but it doesnt look like the one in my old place

After looking up it appears to be a non NTE5 socket (?)

opened it up and this is how it looks inside

ok so is there any real issue when it comes to internet performance between an NTE5 socket and a non NTE5 cocket with a microfilter attached?

there is an extra phone socket upstairs but the wires have been long removed . I beleive it was an extension that was plugged into the socket pictured above with wires running along the skirting boards as there is no evidence it was wired into the wall.

yeah, tbh i have a feeling it will do the job without the need to fit new NTE5 socket as i plan to connect my router direct to it and use wireless N with maybe 1 hardwire ethernet connection from the router.

will get my stats up when i have the internet installed

well i have looked for other sockets however the only other socket is not wired up (ie no wires in it anymore) and that does not have the copacitor inside it. from my online research this does look like a master socket albeit one from about 30 years ago which is about when these flats were built.

Just stolled outside my block of flats (about 5 stories tall) and i dont see any obvious telegraph wires, one thing i can see is a large bundle of cables running up the side of the stairwell wall which go upto the roof (i am on the top floor) these cables hook upto some dishes and i suspect that they also lead into my hallway at somepoint where this socket is located. cant see clearly as i will fall if i lean out of my window any further.
