My mate's way of testing for a good LCD screen...is he right?

Okay, my mate at work was saying the best way to tell whether a TV has a decent screen was by prodding it...the Samsung and LG screens, well the ones we stock, rippled with white bits...as if there wasn't a lot of 'Liquid' in it whereas the Panasonic ones didn't do that at all and nothing rippled so to speak...is he right or being an idiot?
 
Tell him to stick his fingers in a plug socket to test the quality of the power coming in.

If he does that, then maybe it will shock some sense into him :p
 
Hmmm...thing is, it did kinda make sense...prod it on some and there was this white ripple and on others it seemed more...'tougher'... :o
 
Sorry not to jump on the bandwagon, but isn't one of the ways of troubleshooting a dead/lazy pixel to 'massage' it out?

Yup. YOu can sometimes massage a dead or stuck pixel back to life. But testing the quality of a monitor from the amount of ripple is just bizare imo.
