My memory is failing I think

System has been working fine for a long time but things have started randomly "stopping working" in Vista. Did the memory test in vista and that failed. Running memtestv2.01 now and that's failing too.

any advice?

Do the above tests prove it's the memory that is failing or could it be the motherboard?

my e4300 is overclocked to 3ghz but DDR2 memory runs at 333/666 so is the memory actually overclocked or not?

Thanks

pete

If the memory's running at 333/666 then it's running at exactly its rated speed.

Test each stick on it's own, and if one still fails then test it in each of the 4 memory sockets. That way you can rule out a duff socket.

Thanks everyone.

I have tested both sticks in all four slots on my motherboard. One stick fails memtest in all four slots (think it was test 4,7 and 8.) The other passes memtest in all four slots so it's definately a dodgy stick of ram.

I purchased the RAM from ****** on the 21st May last year so it's over 12 months since purchase. Will I have to RMA to Corsair or will ****** honour the lifetime warranty?

Also, will I have to send it to California or is there a UK RMA address. If I have to send it to CA won't that cost more than the ram - rendring the warranty as good as useless?

Thanks

Pete
