high i got myself a gigabyte p35c-ds3r mobo & a q6600 cpu. i bought 2x1gb of ocz platinum ddr2-6400 then i bought 2x1gb geil ultra low ddr2-6400 .
when i ordered them i thought they were the same settings i've found out that one of them is 4-4-4-12 & the other is 4-4-4-15.
i have no idea where to start looking about these settings so could someone as well as telling me if they are ok for overclocking together show me where to learn about what these numbers mean.
lastly my brother might be interested in buying the ocz plainum as he's got the same set up just with the platinum.
so that would just leave me with the geil, is this as good as the platinum or not because i could get 2 more sticks of this to match up or i've just checked the price on some ocuk 8500 & its about the same price as 6400 so would this be a better just to sell the geil & get this ???????
all info & advice will be greatly appreciated. :D

am i right in thinking that even at the standard speed this will probably faster than o/c'd geil 6400 won't it ???????????????????

thanks for answering mate,
what would you set them to in the bios ?
whats the reason for avoiding the ocuk 8500 ??
as far as i can gather its running at 1066mhz at standard where as my 6400 will struggle to reach that overclocked.
someone wrote a review (maybe ficticious?) that his overclocked ok.
i am not new to overclocking but i am new to ram overclocking so please explain everything as if you were telling a kid.
thanks

ok thanks mates,
its swayed me with the reliability you said about the ocuk 8500
lastly which is the better the geil or the ocz as both have been on offer at ocuk & how do they differ from each other.
thanks:cool:
