my microphone is real quiet when i use it to talk to people on teamspeak. in the volume controls i cannot ajust the volume of it because its all grayed out, i have built in realtek hd audio and sound is great, it recognises my mic when i plug it in and my heaphones, but how can i make my mic go louder? i know it can go louder because it did on my old pc.

is there any software than can boost my mic volume? or should i get a new mic and risk it being the same or get a new sound card.

EDIT: ive read around and there doesnt seem to be away around this, its a problem with realtek audio built into motherboards, so i cant ajust my mic volume. unless i get software or a new soundcard.

so...anyone know any mic-boosting software or what is the cheapest quality sound card?

Look for a second hand soundblaster live card, should be nice and cheap :)

Theres definately no +20dB option in your sound options? It would appear as a tickbox.

nope, i cant even go on advanced options, its jsut all gray, what you think to and audigy SE oem? its 7.1 and supports EAX, will this be a good buy for £15

The Audigy should be a bit better/more futureproof, but naturally costs a little more. Either should be fine :)

Realtek sucks, as far as I can tell. I don't know your mobo at all, but this worked for the integrated audio on my DS4:

Open the normal Windows volume control panel. Choose Options -> Properties and select "Realtek Audio Output" (or whatever Realtek output is listed - in my case it was "HD Audio Output).

Check "front pink in" and "rear pink in" volume controls. Click OK.

Back in the Master Volume window, you should now get the Advanced Controls button for the two new pink outputs. Which have the mic boost button and enable the volume control on the mic.

I've no idea why you'd do this in the output section instead of input. As I said, Realtek sucks :)
