My mic is really quiet on skype

When I talk to my friend on skype he says that my mic is too quiet I have turned it all the way up and now he can hear me. But the problem is I am trying to record mine and his audio for a video but my voice is so loud you can't hear anything else on the video.

I have a turtle beach x11.

The problem will probably his volume levels if that's the case.

Have you tried using Stereo Mix as your recording device with the"monitoring" setting active?

What do you mean by monitoring setting?

Monitoring allows you to hear yourself when you talk into your mic.
Stereo Mix will have you record whatever your speakers/headphone outputs - what you hear.
Recording Devices > Stereo Mix (properties) > Listen tab > check Listen to this device.
