My Mini-ITX Build

Hi,
Just thought I would share my build with you.
I'm still waiting for some of the parts to arrive and then I will start building it up

Case = Silverstone SG07
Mobo = Gigabyte GA-H67N-USB3-B3 H67 Socket 1155
CPU = Core i5 2500 3.3GHz Socket 1155 6MB Cache
RAM = Kingston 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz HyperX Blu Memory
GPU = Asus HD 6950
HardDrive = Seagate 250GB 3.5" Barracuda SATA-III 6Gb/s Hard Drive
DVD Drive = Some cheap £20 one from ^^

I'm happy with it. This is my first build ever so i'm excited. I knew the 6950 was big but wow!! When i took it out of the box I was shocked. The box it comes in is awsome as well.

I'm still waiting for the RAM to arrive. I wanted to get a blu-ray drive however i cant afford one at the moment so I just got a cheap dvd drive. That will be a future upgrade. I plan to buy a SSD when i can afford as well.

It's the stock 600W one. It's suppose to be fairly good and should be fine for my build since I dont overclock. Silverstone told me it can handle a 6990.
It can always be replaced if needs be as well. The only advantage to this PSU is that the cable lengths are specific to the case.

Why didnt you get the 2500K?? Has the better onboard graphics and if you ever want more power, drop it in a P67 and clock it..

I went for the 2500 because I dont plan to overclock. I know the K version is only a little more expensive and to some it makes sence to get that one. My budget was fairly tight and saving that £10 - £20 helped a lot. Who knows maybe in the future when you can get a P67 itx board i'll upgrade to an i7 K version ^^
For now i'm very happy with this

I will take some photos and let you all know how it performs, and the noise. From videos i've seen it's fairly quiet, but we will see.

I'm still waiting for my RAM...
A little annoyed about this. I ordered the RAM with my hardrive,cpu and motherboard. When I ordered it said there was 3 or 4 of the ram left in stock ( I didnt order from here ) Now on the website it shows the ram as out of stock and it's still not arrived. I got told it will be here by Thursday but i dont beleive, so if it's not here by then i'm going to cancel the RAM and order from else where.

It doesn't matter, the K is always the better choice if only for resale consideration.

Looking forward to seeing the pics OP, sounds like a beast of a build.

Thanks The RAM should arrive tomorrow *fingers crossed* and then i'll get started on the build.
Your right the K version was probably the best route to go and looking back maybe i should have purchased it. I have no regrets though. I'm really happy with what i've got and if I did upgrade i'd buy a i7 K version or whatever the best out at the time was.

I hate the wait for the RAM ! I've got all these nice parts to make a nice computer but without the ram its all useless lol.

Just finished my build.
Seems to be running nicely
I'll post some photos later.

The system runs quiet ( To me atleast ) I'm using the low speed fan switch because it seems to be doing a good enough job and the higher setting makes quite a bit more noise.
PSU is quiet. I cant even hear it. I will try to record a video to show the noise levels. To me it seems like most of the noise is coming from my hard drive when it's reading and writing data^^
Temps seem fine as well.
When doing basic stuff such as web browsing the CPU cores range between 28 - 35°c and at load they were running between 40-47°c
The graphics card runs at 38-41°c with basic tasks and 75-80°c during gaming. This is quiet a bit higher than the CPU but i think it's still ok?

Good to know the hard drive is the noisiest part - should be able to remedy with some 2.5" drives.
What heatsink are you using on the cpu?

The computer is very quiet running on the low fan speed setting. With a SSD i'm sure it would be even better^^
I'm using the stock Intel heatsink that came with the CPU. Before building I was thinking about ordering another one, but the temps seem very good to me.

Looks like your building a similar machine to me (apart from i5 vs i7 and H67 vs Z68). If your concerned about the harddrive noise you could try a samsung spinpoint F3 1tb (can get them for under £40).

How easy it is to fit the HD6950 in the case?

Very easy. I didnt have any trouble at all. The only thing is it takes most of the side up because of the length so it does make cable management harded. Still it's not a problem and a larger card would be able to fit in.

The noise on the hard drive doesnt bother me One day i will upgrade to a SSD...

Sorry sorry^^
There's a few things i'm struggling with and would like to change and was hoping to fix before photos, but im struggling.
1) With the case being small and compact cable management is a bit tricky... however i think mine is rather bad, any suggestions?
2) My case was missing some of the screws when it arrived so for the dust filter on the gfx card im using some horrible silver scews -.- I want to change them but havent been able to find any that fit so far.

Things i've noticed with the case

1) The screws mark the case. Not a big deal, but would be nice if they didnt considering the price.
2) The front headphone port gives a static noise which is rather annoying. I read someone else having this problem as well. Not too sure how to fix this one, any ideas?
3) The gfx card is gigantic compared to the mobo^^

Temps seem fine like previously said and overall performing nicely
