My monitor doesn't enter the sleep mode

Hi all. :)

My new Acer monitor does not go to the sleep mode when connected with an HDMI cable. When I put my computer to the sleep mode or shut it down, the monitor displays the "Cable not connected" message instead. The same thing happens when the monitor is set to automatically turn off after a certain period of time in the Control panel and when I connected it to another computer.

When I used a VGA cable the sleep mode worked as it should. I thought the problem may be caused by the fact that the HDMI carries both video and audio so I disabled the monitor in the Sound category in Control panel, but it didn't help.
I reinstalled my graphics card drivers and tried to install the monitor drivers downloaded from the Acer website, but when I chose them I got a message that my PnP monitor drivers are up to date and I can't install them.

My PC components are:
Graphics card - Sapphire AMD Radeon 7850
Processor - Intel Core i5 2500K
Motherboard - Asrock P67 Pro 3 Rev 3.0
Hard drive - Western Digital Caviar Blue 1tb
Power supply - XFX CORE SERIES 550W
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8GB
Case - Fractal Design Core 3000
DVD drive - LG GH24NS90.AUAA50B

OS - Windows 7 64bit

Can you give me an advice on what to do to make it work as it should?

Thanks,
Draggy
