Right, getting really excited about this years games. Hope they will be as good as they sound.

Half Life - Episode 1 - Hope it's as good as HL2
Sin Episodes - Hopefully not bug ridden like it's predessor
Crysis - Hope it's better than the first
Alan Wake - Better be as good as Max Payne 2
Stranglehold - This looks incredible (possible Max Payne 2 beater)
Prey - Will there be a singleplayer?
Duke Nukem 4Ever - Will it ever make an appearance (been waiting 3years+)

Any more?

You should really have played Half-Life 1 before 2.

IIRC, the average finish time of HL1 when it came out, was around 4 months. Quite often, longer.

Half Life 1 was also very good, not as good as HL2 mind you but definitely the best game around at the time and for a while afterwards. The only thing that let the original down was the stupid part towards the end when you had to travel to another dimension. That part was pants!

As far as the completion time goes, well I think a lot of that depends on how much it makes you want to play it. HL1 was slightly longer but I still completed it inside of 2 weeks. Max Payne 2 is the shortest game i've played but it's fantastic, so you can't have everything!

As for the sims, you can have them, i'm not interested. Bores me to death!

Wasn't there a preview of this in a PC mag in 1998 or some other ridiculous date?

When I heard about that a few years ago I realised Duke Nukem Forever was never coming, was probably scrapped in 1999, and is nothing more than an urban legend today.

No it was originally talked about during 2000 and shown at e3 in 2001 using a modded quake engine, since then they've scrapped the quake engine and gone with the unreal engine. If you take a look at 3drealms website it is still in development but all they say about release dates is "when it's done" which seems to now be a quote 3drealms are famous for!

I think that Stranglehold is looking potentially like the game of the year but it's a bit early to tell!

Director: John Woo
Starring: Chow Yun Fat
Plot: Hardboiled (movie) sequel :D
Style: Max Payne :D
Bullet Time: Yes

i remember seeing a preview of Duke Nuekem Forever on PC Gamer best part of 8 years ago  and thought it looked totally awsome

as for games this year.. Crysis (if its out this year), Huxley, UT2007 and HL2:Aftermath.. not as exiting as 2004 :o

I know crysis looks great, I just hope it's more fun then the original cos FarCry got too difficult and too boring in the latter stages!
