my mp3 player decision just got annoyingly complicated

New features scare me and kill my wallet so I saw the chance to pick up a discounted Creative Zen Sleek on the cheap now they're being got rid of. So down I go to Annoyingly Advertised Catalog Shop (uh, I guess if they sell rip off cameras and mp3 players and laptops they count as competitors right?) who had it displayed in their window for £110. And they're out of them. Everywhere.
So, I come home and look on the computer. The only place with them is a competitor who was after £120. OK, I think, its still a good deal. So I buy it and expect it to turn up in 3 days time. Except it doesn't. Because they've made more sales than they had and mine, being the cheapo delivery, was the last one that they got to. Hurrah - at least they get the refund sorted. So I go to look and can't find it anywhere else.

What I'm after is too simple for anyone to bother making anymore except dubious no-brand types. So far, all I've seen thats a recognisable brand at that kind of price range is the iRiver H10.

20gb. MP3 player. Preferably can be used without software. Decent support for folders, playlists etc. Decent battery life. £130 kind of price.

I was going to get one too, and i know where you mean. They have been advertising them for over 6 weeks, and i think ti was just to get rid of excess stock for the zen vision m coming in.

I have the 5GB H10 and love it, only reason im ditching it as ive filled it and need more space, so would definately recomend one to you.

Can the H10 be used just as an external storage device or does it need software? Thats about the only thing thats stopping me with it as I can't find that out.

I'm in the same situation with a modded (UMS) H10 6gb bugger. Superb player but I need more space and would like to play with a video player. I'm waiting for my next payday so I can get me a vision:m. Gonna hate selling the h10 though :/

Im sellig my H10 to my dad, so i know its getting a good home :)

Yes, the H10 can be used to show up as a drag and drop external device, all you need to do is connect the player in emergency mode and itll show up as a drive, then simply dump your music in the correct folder and then run a program called easy H10 which pulls the ID3 information from the tracks so your listings show properly. Ive done this for 6 months, so trust me its works fine.
