My MR2 Turbo MPG Record!

Sure having a fast car is great and all but with todays petrol prices filling the car up really hurts.

So yesterday I thought I would do 55mph gps all the way to and from Birmingham all part from some small boostage in and around the city.

Stopped in a service station on the way up, looking rather good so far. 105 miles and not even a 1/4 used. :eek:

Stopped at another service station on the way back for some sleep. Would have had a bit more fuel if I didnt boost around Birmingham.

Made it back home and nearly 300 miles with about a 1/4 left. Normally average about 230miles to a 55L tank.

Yeah it gets down to zero, stays like that for a while and when the light does come on I still have about 9L left I think.

I might buy a new ecu and get it mapped to stop the running rich problem, will save money in petrol but wont get any flames.

300 was my best, got that out of my Rev1 on the Manchester Meet. Just made it to a petrol station, only had 2L or so left in it.

It is good to be able to cruise along and not have to worry about cams and sit back and watch everyone else driving crazy.

Filled up today 380miles and managed to get in 51L

So thats around 34mpg then?

On for another record, had a slight hole in my exhaust fixed and so far I have done 150miles and used just over 1/4 of a tank :eek:

and I wasnt trying for some of the trip. If all goes well I think I will see over 400miles from this tank.

Have to post some more pics when I get home.

May have cheated abit, when I filled it up I really did fill it up.

I did have a bit of fun and did get upto 70 odd or so a few times and did boost away from a MK1 MR2. Had to have some fun.

Might get abit more if I actually took the camping and other crap out of my boot.

Well guys very proud of my self, filled up yesterday with 395miles on the clock 20 of them being town miles and filled my car up. Light had been on and off a few times, put in 45L and then was shocked how I got 39.9mpg from my MR2 Turbo. :eek:

Well since I got my headunit money has been a bit tight.

I do drive it fast, just doing silly speeds everywhere and having to worry about speed cameras isnt all that fun.

Sometimes its just nice to relax on the motorway, take it easy and watch how crazy everyone else is driving.

I also got 50 miles to near half a tank on the MM meet.

Tomorrow I dont expect to get anymore than 20mpg.
