My MX-5 Supercharging Project

Air actually enters the engine bay from the gap between the bonnet and the windscreen, the filter is in just the right space, even more so now he's got the supercharger in place.

This won't stop the heat-soak when stationary, but he's alleviated that by wrapping the exhausts, you'll be able to touch those right after running the car.

The air intake on the mk2 was behind the left hand light from memory - hence the enclosure on my setup. The mk1 though I have no idea about - which is why Will was pointing to that issue. :)

be my guest, I had Zircotec ceramic headers which were also wrapped and the last thing in the world I'd do would be to touch them :p

I'll have to take what you say as informed but for me, an air filter directly above a manifold, wrapped or not, lol

Yea I recall that now, Licho lot seem to have an excellent track record with the Jap stuff, their Scoobs are pretty special as I recall.

There was a problem with the Cosworth super chargers blowing up engines, a lot. It was blamed on bad mapping and apparently later mk3 (mk3.5's?) take to them better. Probably better off asking over on MX5 nutz.

MK3 seemed to me to have lost the mx5 spirit what with its increase in weight and what not, if I could have anything mx5 wise it would be a mk2.5 1.8iS with a sorted turbo like Freefaller's.
