accidently put my phone in my trouser pocket which went in the washing machine. flatmate didnt check and just put the washing on. ive got lloydstsb silver mobile insurance, do you think i can claim? a lot of insurance people dont i know that because i work in the industry.

i am covered for water damage ive checked

ive put the claim in just now. what it is is my friend put a claim in once and they told him no because it was hit fault not checking the pocket going into the washer.

i know im silly :(

I am guessing it covers accidental water damage? In which case just make up some excuse like you accidently dropped it into something containing water :P , not like they can prove whether or not its an accident or not.

I don't know the particulars of your policy but there's usually a get-out clause for them if you've not taken due care in looking after the phone. What's the point of accidental damage cover if they get to put stipulations on what is accidental and what isn't!

I walked into the sea on holiday last year with my phone still in my pocket. Result one dead phone. I told my insurers that I was pushed in and the claim went through fine.

The answer in this case is never go with included bank insurance and always look at the small print beforehand. Barclays insurance is similar - they insure mobiles but I think they dont consider the N95 a mobile! I think they consider it as a pda. (ie its too expensive so we arent insuring it.)

The N95 would be covered under Barclays gadget insurance, however you have to register the product with them first and they have a limit based on price for how much they will cover under gadget insurance. The limit can be made up of a single item or multiple items. Also as far as I'm aware its an either/or sitation as in you either have mobile phone cover or gadget insurance but you can't have both.
