I have finally decided to build my own little fileserver to save me having to store all my files on verious portable hard drives when i want to do a fresh OS install.

This is what i have so far, i'm quite set on keeping my choice of case but i'm open to suggestions as for everything else :). Ideally id like to keep the cost to stay around 200.

I'm ok for a psu as i plan to use an old one i have lying around and i'm probably going to use FreeNAS for the OS.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Technics.

mmm, good spot i didn't really think about that...
Really wanted that case also, but the zotac itx boards are a tad expensive for what i was looking for so maybe a change is needed.

Thanks :)

Thanks for the suggestions, i will have a look into some of the ATOM boards as i only plan to use it for network storage.

Can anyone suggest a good ATOM board to me, nothing to expensive tho? preferably with RAID 1 is it's possible. Or would i have to buy a raid card seperatly for that?

Technics

If you're set on Atom, competitors carry some. OCuK selection is lacking. The Intel D510MO is a good board with the dual core atom, but it suffers from a lack of SATA ports (only has two I think, which will be fine for a single disc and optical drive, but leaves no room for later expansion or a redundancy disc, without getting a case that allows more drives and a SATA controller).
