My Network-Fu Is Not Strong

Hey guys,

I ordered a HP iPaq and a wireless USB NIC the other day, and much to my surprise, they arrived today. I can't complain about that though, I wasn't expecting them until Monday.

Anyway, onto the problem at hand. I am trying to set up an ad hoc network for the PPC so that I can browse the web and Messenger around the house, but no matter what, I simply cannot establish a connection to any servers be it websites or MSN. Everything looks fine to me, the PC and PPC are both showing a wireless connection, and both are indicating maximum signal strength.

The layout of my network is as in this basic diagram. I have tried using both DHCP and manually-set IP addressing, on the PC, but my assumption so far is that the settings under DNS and WINS on the PPC might not be set right at all.

Thank you all very much in advance, any suggestions whatsoever would be highly appreciated. :)

Sincerely yours,
Úlfhednar.

Unless you're running ICS, or you've got the wireless connection bridged to something else which is doing it, DHCP won't work.
First stop should be seeing if the device is even being assigned an IP.

Aye I have enabled internet connection sharing on the main ethernet connection to the router, and the PPC is being assigned an IP address, so my guess from that is that the connection is alive and kicking but I've just configured some settings wrong somewhere.

Is it being assigned a valid IP? Can you ping [the router/an IP on the internet] from it?
Timing out and 100% packet loss when I ping the IP it's being assigned from my computer. :( Can't figure out how to ping the computer from the PPC lol.

Edit: I found how to ping from my PPC, and tried pinging my router (192.168.2.1) but the same thing. 4 packets, 4 time-outs. :(
