I got a new 146 opteron yesterday and of course we ahd to play with it.

It's currently at 3.0GHz in windows and is very stable.

Might go for benchmarking later, put some more volts through as I only have 1.525 through atm. Also if I sort my memory out, apparently I could get it higher..

Cant even get my CABJE stepping 146 over 2.5 :( Just hit a wall, no number of volts helps

yeah mine hits a wall at 2.9ghz, i think its either cooling or the board (shuttle sn25p) it does 2.9ghz at 1.45v and passes a few hours of prime (too lazy for 12hours), occt and numerous ours of COD UO. but wont do 3ghz, cant even get 1m pi stable with up to 1.65v

thats the best i can do fully stable.

You not going to put anymore volts through that? Surely with 1.5 you would break 3g

dumb question but how do you guys have the guts to overclock lol. Is there a low risk of damage with the opterons? Im too scared to clock my 3500 in case it breaks.

I have my 3500+ sat at 1.76ghz with 1.65v on water atm. But even before water it would hit 2.7 on 1.6 with a good air cooler.

With overclocking as long as you have good cooling and don't overdo the volts then you will be fine. The worst that will happen is you will have to reset the bios.

The AMD Opterons are on the whole excellent overclockers, and respond well to it.

I'm thinking of switching to a Dual-Core one soon..

yea no matter how high i go on the voltage the asrock board just keeps crapping out at the 292htt mark.

new board should see this opteron hit 3.1ghz or more easily on air.
