Hello all!

My friend has just finished building my PC and I am collecting it tomorrow.

Key parts are the MSI gtx 970 and gigabyte gaming 7 motherboard, using on board sound.

I was going to use it on my TV until i sorted out my office and new monitor, however I have concluded my tv does not have the standard audio input jack.
it has a head phone input.

It has HDMI, something called digital audio (never come across this before) and standard AV scart leads

I am unsure whether the graphics card will pass sound through its HDMI.

Any one got an idea how to get sound to the tv??

HDMI should transfer sound perfectly - what I've been using the last couple of days on a pc I'm building for a friend :)

Gfx card transfers the sound, yes

Just to third what's been said - my Steambox has been using audio over HDMI since I built it about six months ago. No problems and it's no big deal for Windows to handle either.

As far as I know, everything made by nVidia or AMD in the last 5 years supports sound over HDMI - the GPU just passes the digital signal along to the TV, so it doesn't have much to do... the TV handles the actual decoding.

Of course, what you REALLY need is an AV Receiver and 5.1 speaker system. A bargain at around £700... ;)
