Well now my system is stable I thought i would journal my build. Nothing too fancy, just clean and subtle.

So this is what I came from:

This was a Q6700 with a Zalman cooler, which I didnt know until I got it had a green LED on it, which upset me somewhat, so I was pleased to see this go as it did not fit in with the rest of my build, but I lived with it for three years.

For my new build I have gone from 3 optical devices to one, to lose cabling and had a re-jog of positioning of drives to allow for only one power cable to be needed, along with mobo power and gfx power.

I have also removed my sound card as this needed a seperate power cable, and opted to use on-board. I mostly use my headset anyway, which comes with a USB 7.1 sound card. So far I have noticed little difference between my Audigy X-Fi Platinum Pro and my onboard soundm whatever it is!

Spec:

Enermax Galaxy 1000w PSU
Lian-Li PC-P80 (Armoursuit)
i7-2600k @ 3.4GHz
Asus P67 Sabertooth
Asus HD6950 Direct CU II 2GB
16GB Corsair XMS3 1600
Cooler Master V6GT CPU Cooler

And what it looks like at the moment:

Out the case..... Cooler is monsterous!

And finally all cased up:

I have removed all of my UV Cold Cathodes. They were really only in there as I used to have LOADS of UV stuff about 8 or 9 years ago, but slowly got rid of it all, so didnt see the point in keeping them in.

I am replacing them with just two blue cold cathodes, to keep in with the lighting of the armoursuit fans.

My next job is to get the cabling covered over. Obviously cut down on a lot of it, now I just want to tidy it up. I did get some stuff to do it, but it is terrible and looked awful, so decided not to use it, so just looking for something else now. Going to bundle the HD Audio / USB cables at the bottom into one group and the GPU / ATX power cables into another group and finally the drive power / Sata cables into a third group.

I will post another couple of pics one I have the cabling and lighting done. Im pleased with how it is looking compared to the last build, but will be more pleased once it is done :)

DAMN that gpu is a BEAST. The gpu and cooler fit really well the the mobo armour too.

You need to get that mobo tray powdercoated..the matt black awesomeness does not find the shiny bare metal agreeable :).

Yeah they make mobo's far too small these days. lol. :D

I thought about watercooling - the case has port holes built in, but it would only be for show since I dont plan any major clocking - Its fine enough without tweaking anything.

What would be ace would be one humungous armoured mobo. Would look awesome :)

Trying to find some decent cable management now. I did think that there was a good selection at "comptetitor website" but having looked its just the same crappy stuff I have which is next to useless that comes in a flat roll and just comes apart at the ends. Might pop to Maplain tomorrow and see what they have. I want plain black braiding, preferably cotton rather than the plastic stuff, which doesnt come on a flat roll because it doesnt form a round shape very well I have found. Or just the stuff that comes as a tube which I can make incisions in to pop through each wire at different exit points, if that makes sense.

Latest updates:

Got most of the cabling sorted now after managing to find some braid that didn't fall to pieces when cutting to allow bits to "pop out" of it along the run.

Most of the unsorted cables are shoved up in the top of the case out of sight.

Only bits let are to braid the HDD power cables, but I need a half cut braid to do them and I only know one place that sells it and I do not want to give them my money!

Happy with how it has turned out :)
