I have the Asus P5Q but I chose the PRO version, it runs great with the CPU I have, and the Ram, I chose BOTH The options you have :D

Graphics card option I went for the Sapphire 4870 x2 its got great reviews, and is really easy to overclock in the ATI menu, with my system it ran the O/C Test and it went all the way up to max and I couldn't even hear the Cards Fan stressing, so all good!!

Another reason for me choosin that card was because the price will drop again im sure, and I can get another and hook em up :)

I chose a really nice case, an Antec 1200 :) I had the money, it was a good buy (Google that if you fancy it, unfortunately, its a little pricey at some places which is a real shame!) and its really nice to use, the wiring is a doddle to hide, and its build quality I thought excellent! just another option for you :)

for the price of the HD, cant u go a little more for a 1TB drive? Its a LOT of HD Space i know, but I depending on if your ONLY gaming, or not, it might prove advantagious ... which is totally spelt wrong but hey ;)

One more thing....... u havent chosen a Sound Card?

The onboard sound is "OK" but if you play FPS then you really should invest in a decent Sound Card m8 :)

Good luck with it mate!

Chris

tbh spending that sort of money have you thought of going i7 ?

if i7 is a no go then drop the memory for corsair pc6400, 8500 wont be of any use with the q6600.

and maybe replace the q6600 with either the 8400/8500 processors ?

If you're spending that kind of money, you've got to go with i7.

Thanks
I like the look of the i7 build, is the BlueRay player really needed?
Are games going to start being released on blueray anytime soon?
Thanks for all you help!

nah not need games wise, but if u get a decent monitor gives u the option to watch blue ray discs on your pc :).

could just go with the samsung sata dvdrw drive.

If your spending 1.2k+ with no monitor for a gaming pc id seriously consider i7 and 1 of the x2 gfx cards, my preferace would be the truecolor x2 4870's, £40 off this week, and trust me if your building a gaming system, you can have the quickest proccesor and the most ram on the planet but its bottlenecked by a single card. a lot of hardware tests are proving just how nice x2 cards are. ill spec you a system a bit later on.

If you're spending that much money, you might as well go blu-ray. You've got the option of watching movies now, it's also a DVD burner.

If not, you can always switch it with a normal DVD burner.

Good point. If you can spend a little more, I would replace that 4870 with a 4870X2.

Could someone spec me an i7 build then please )
I want to keep the Zalman GT1000 if possible (if not has to be midi tower)
Thankyou so much for all of views, very helpful!
