What do you guys think?
Will be playing new BF3 when launched and Diablo 3 and other games also.

If its just a gaming machine you can save some money by going with the 2500k CPU, drop the psu to 750w this will be plenty for future xfire cards.

Also £300 on a motherboard, one for £150 would plenty unless there is any features your after.

Thats a fair amount of good looking kit. Couple of questions:
Are you planning on water cooling any of that?
Have you ordered it already?

Not ordered as of yet, finalising the build.....you know i want something thats gonna last a long long time!
Would love to watercool but still have no clue on how to do it and dont want to risk £1700 worth of hardware doing so !

The mobo is £300 but i feel this would last me ages ROG boards are bad ass use to own a Commando socket 775 ;)

I think you're just showing off, or you have more money than sense.

Crazy waste of money on that motherboard, unless you want to go tri-xfire. It's also E-ATX so careful what case you choose (800D is OK). Same for PSU, completely OTT unless you want tri xfire. And £400 SSD?

Anyway, it's your cash. This kind of hardware begs for water cooling and proper custom jobs, if you want to do it properly.

The way i look at it dude is, i could easily spend £400 overall less on the computer....but i wanna be able to keep something for 2-3 years that'll cream through everything i own.

Would you however reckon i should scrap the SSD and go for the Hybrid 500gb and then buy a 2nd 6970 ??

i dont know what your case is like, but i would seriously suggest cancelling the order ASAP, because that is a massive overspend on the motherboard

it is almost impossible to keep something future proof as the socket required for the best processors constantly changes, and this is not something you can change on a motherboard.

That SSD is not as good as one i wanted, and hate nvidia cards. Might go crossfire

what dont you like about Nvidia cards?
also, ive only been recommending the C4 SSD's because there are problems with the OCZ 3 series ones right now. have a look in the news + deals section for details on them

Just an ati fanboy had those everytime, if u think nvidia 580s are better then gimme a show? And ill consider them :)

There's no middle ground, is there...

£150 SLI mobo, 12800C9 8GB low profile ram, Silver Arow, 850W modular PSU, 6970 / 580GTX, 120GB SSD, job done. 2600K or 2500K, whichever you fancy really, given your budget. You can always add a 120GB SSD later, or even a 240GB is the prices fall right down (doubtful). 120GB is a lot of space for games and programs, and it's just pointless storing the space-hogging things on them (music and videos).

You are asking for opinions, for a 'future-proof' build, mine is you are spending a lot of money on things you won't ever need. Unless you are willing to go tri-sli, surround / 3D gaming, and all that enthusiast stuff (water cooling, pimp rigs, ect...).

But it's your money, I'd rather spend it on other things personally.
