I guess you cant go THAT wrong for £500. Glad your pleased with it, and it has leather which is a bonus!

You can do a lot worse for more money. Bargain I say :D

Looks nice though. I see there's a fair helping of wood in there too. Flat caps and tartan rugs at the ready ;)

Saying this would probably class me as, and seem to make me fall in to the young-racer-type driver, but i like these styles of cars (calibra, accord, astra coupe etc)

i take it theres no chance an 18yo, driving for 1 year, with no No Claims could get insurance on something like this?

You'd be suprised. You could probably insure some 2 litre barge's for a lot less than a 1.6 litre warm/hot hatch.

I think that's the point at which you admit that you may not be cut out for anything faster than an Isetta bubble car :p :D

New car looks pretty good for ~£500 though, can't go all that wrong paying that for an Accord of that vintage.

interesting, - ive been quoted about £1000ish for an 8yo astra 1.6 premier (hatch  )

I would have expected it to be far more than that?

Not a lot of young drivers are interested in big cars, hence less of them get crashed which results in lower insurance groups that you'd expect.

I could insure a Rover 820 if I wanted... but I'm not ready for the big old barge side of things yet and am happy with my 220.

Forgot to say i have 13years NCB and wife has 14years NCB which would make quite a differance.

on a different note the car has stood for 3 months, struggled to start due to flat battery but other than that seems fine. Will get it serviced and cleaned up a bit and should keep going for a good few years :)

So nice to be back behind a wheel of a honda after so many years away - just gives me a sense of peace - lol Last honda car i had was a triumph acclaim which my dad had from new and passed onto me after i'd passed my test and driven for a year or so. part exchanged it at 15years old and 155k miles on the clock never broke down :)

Good point about the insurance

As an example, a group 15 Audi 2.5V6 Quattro will cost me £1200 for 10 months FC with no NCB and a fault accident @ 21. A group 8 Astra 1.8 SRi will cost about the same and a group 15 Alfa Romeo 147 2 litre will cost £2000!

Nice car. And being a Honda it probably won't give you many serious problems even though it cost £500!
