My new case woe..

hey Dave,

Much better, i think it peaks around 70c at about 50-60 percent fan speed, compared to low 80's on the EVGA mini. And CPU peaking around mid 40's..

Just to add guys..my idle or "basic use" temps are around the mid 30's. Is this ok for the GPU temp wise? Or should it be a little cooler? Bearing in mind I suppose it isnt the coldest room right now..

Hey again guys,

Just another quick update, played DOOM for a solid session the now, and reporting back..again in a warm room, my CPU peaked at 44c (man I love the Corsair cooler!) and the GPU at 69c at 70% fan speed.

That aint too bad, as im guessing that the air drawn in from the front by the Corsair cooler is quite warm, to obviously cool the CPU, so the ASUS isnt getting the coolest air possible to cool itself with..but 69c at peak is still below the peak temp as standard of 83c..it does get loud, but im gaming, so it dont really matter, then after around 1-2 minutes its back to quiet again..

So overall happy with my setup, all I need now is Battlefield 1, desperate to play that now, but need to wait till santa

**UPDATE**

Sorry guys, but my paranoia / OCD is kicking in :( I have put a slight, very slight OC on my GPU and in my room with the heating on at low, the idle (or low use) temps are 40c-41c with my custom fan curve.

Now I know it is peak that is important which so far has been real good through MSI AfterBurner settings..

But want to know if the idle temp is still OK? It just seems a little high?

You have an issue with cooling due to lack of space.
You have no problem with framerates or fps really when left at stock
You then mess with it and expect ti to be the same idle as stock and are again worried about temperatures?

I'm sensing a pattern here.

If temperature is really such a big deal you need to case your case to allow better airflow or just leave it alone and keep the filters/fans/rads clean as to maintain the same cooling ability.

There is no magic fix here you have done all you can without changing things.

Yeah, that dose make sense. The other thing im having an issue with, is my rear 120mm fan doesnt spin that fast, i mean, it still expels the heat from the case well..but wondering if I should change it out for a little more extraction?

But if im correct in saying, positive pressure (acquired from my 240mm radiator intake) is the best for in case setup, so there for I would be better off leaving as is? And like i have said a gazillion tines, my GPU and CPU are at decent temps under high load from games..

Oh, and also I dont want any more noise, its quiet on idle as is, and I also fear more rmp from fans could hamper that a lot..?

The positive pressure thing is to prevent dust ingress.
By controlling where the air is pulled in you can filter it and thus prevent dust build up and needing to take to bits and clean it so often etc.

Its not really temp related unless you go silly and have like 5 fans blowing in as then the fan blades are fighting the static pressure to force air in (Plus you get more noise)

I might of flicked over the "temps seem perfect in game" bit so maybe my last post was a little harsh :)

By all means try a better extraction fan, but you are coming into the age old problem of "Its 95% good , I need to spend another 25 % to get another 3 %" situation.

All you can do is play, try high rpm speeds, try low rpm speeds (But watch for temperature creep and dead spots)

I would say if everything is fine when gaming your worrying for very little reason :)

I think modern gpu are designed to run hotter as well.

I wouldn't have wanted 75`c + temps in the past but that seems more normal these days.

Also ignore idle temps, it's the load temp that's important.

Of you want to overclock you may need more airflow, but you don't have a great case for gpu overclock.
If it's stable and not throttling all the time then you are ok.

Cheers guys, will leave as is then, as in game all is stable and temps are OK. Im not too fussed about overclocking as the performance so far is more than good for me..
