can some off you gurus help me out here please.....

I don't really understand. The DS4 doesn't have enough PATA ports for all those devices (5 ports necessary). Are you using an expansion card for the purpose?

Ok, you have a motherboard that supports 6 SATA devices and 2 IDE devices. You, apparently, have two IDE devices and one SATA device installed. You wish to install another 9 IDE devices. For this you're going to need a card or cards that fit into PCI or PCI-e slots. What expansion cards do you already have installed? You probably have a graphics card but you might have others. How many PCI-e slots are open?

As a side note, what case do you have that will absorb so many drives?

i have no add on ide cards installed at all i installed intel drivers. and since that i have all these ide devices.

Having all Pata ports is perfectly normal. There is an option in the bios to make all the Sata ports look like Pata (enabled by default). The system boots up and displays that you have master and slave drives but u dont. I tried it on AHCI mode but the Windows xp pro 64-bit CD said I had no hard drives so I just put it back to default. Ive got a P35 DQ6. Im just getting to grips with it no overclocking yet.

All SATA and PATA disks are IDE. Your system is telling the truth, unfortunately because people are inaccurate in their language usage and generally call PATA drives IDE you're confused by the computer, which is accurately describing your situation.

You have 3 SATA drives. You have 3 IDE drives. There is no problem. Be happy, your system is functioning correctly :)
