Well seeing as it the new year nearly, and my current rig is coming up to being 4 years old (with exception of the gfx card), thought it was about time to build a new pc (kept putting it off due to lack of funds). Its not top of the range but should be good enough for the money, if anyone thinks i should change something let me know. I'm about to press buy on the X1950 and the Tuniq as they're on this week only.

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)
HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 TURBO SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
NEC AD5170 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black

Any reason for choosing the Samsung HD? I'd go for a Seagate :)

One of my mates bought one of the Sammy ones and he said its very quiet and been good so far, so just going with that really.

That was to do with the bios i think on the Gigabyte boards. All fine now, with the latest F6/F7 bios! :)

Fair enough, I suppose it's just personal preference :) Stay away from the Deathstars though. And Maxtors :p

Well just looking at this ram http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-108-CS , its a bit more but would it be any better and is the board libel to be on the latest bios?

Yeah i know to keep away from the deathstars and had a few maxtors go in the past. But suppose it can happen with any hdd, currently got a WD in my current pc, clicking its nuts off everytime it boots up. Don't think its got long left. :(

Right seen a few posts in the mb section saying there are a few ds3 boards going down. Looks like it could be a bad batch, so any other boards worth checking out? Also still stuck on the ram situation as i'm not sure which 6400 to go for. The ocuk stuff is getting some good things said about it, but then Corsair/G.Skill etc seem to be decent as well. Going to be looking at trying to get the 6300 to around 3ghz or so.

Any help. :)
