There are a couple of more pics here

Bad points are that the body needs a total respray, the lacquer is peeling off in some places, a lot of the black plastics look grey.

It needs a heater matrix, the MFA MPG doesnt work and the car red lines at 7K but when you hit 6K it judders ever so slightly as though there isnt enough fuel getting through and a bit of smoke shoots out the back (colour = hard to tell but maybe a blue/grey colour)

Not to keen on the alloys either.

Anyone know what might be causing the above problem?

And, does anyone know if it will fail an MOT on the heater not working (blows but no heat) and having the rear wiper removed?

You'll need to get the matrix sorted as you'll end up with wet feet.

But...if it's the same as mkII Golfs (and I have a funny feeling that it is), it is a day or two-long job...Dash out, the works.

And you'll want to slit your wrists when you're 1/3 through it.

But no heater or rear wiper is no reason for an MOT fail.

Good purchase :) Enjoy it.

For that price, I'd just have fun with it - get some nice rims off ebay.de, paint it satin black with a little bit of pinstriping on the bonnet and rear hatch, get it LOW and have fun :)

Check the head gasket as a symptom of it failing is no heat through the vents

Looks good though although I hope that it goes through the MOT OK :)

EDIT: Use back to black or something similar for the black plastic bits - it really works a treat

Sounds very similar to my GTi, the whole job was a total git from start to finish.

Might not be the bargain it seems if it badly fails the MOT.

even if it fails the mot on lots of serious problems the car is worth a lot more than i paid for it in parts :D

I thought back to black needed topping up all the time for it to keep the plastic black? Wouldnt some plastic spray be better as long as it was all masked off properly and then lacquered?

MOT is up on the 20th of next month, ill get it MOT'd next week so ill have a bit of time in case it fails.

As for alloys, ive some 17"s on my written off rado that should fit straight on, however, one alloys is cracked so i need to identify them and try and just buy 1 alloy!

Try Auto Glym Bumper Shine, should work a treat :)

Indeed - when people sell a car with a very short MOT it generally means they've MOT'd it and it failed badly.

It has intergalactic mileage as well.

Hey, nice car.

For the bumpers you could use this stuff:
http://www.motorgeek.co.uk/forever-black-bumper-trim-p-234.html
I used it on my polo which had badly faded bumpers and it worked nicely. Took about 4 coats or so though.

I think sometimes that judder and smoke can be when it spits oil into the air intake. Check your induction pipe and filter for oil buildup. Otherwise i guess that could be a miss and its chucking some unburnt fuel out the back.

I would like to point out that the car was bought from a member of the corrado forum that im a member of, and before that a lad named daz from E38 forums so i have been able to check out what they have done to it and any problems they have had, so fingers crossed it should fly through the MOT :D

As soon as its stops bloody raining im going to give it a full wash and wax and get all the trim sorted.

Oh, any tips on buffing the manifold up? It looks like its got some water marks on. Just a good cloth and some elbow grease??
