My new S2000

sounds good but it ruins your performance, get a CAI doesnt give you many ponies but it does at least sound good :)

Yeah the hot air it sucks in isn't ideal. I just wanted to hear the noise. :p

The carbon cooling plate i have needs modifying though as it blocks the flow of air to the standard intake anyway. Didn't notice and drop in performance, in fact it probably felt a bit faster.

the noise makes it seem faster :D
I tested it at the BHP at the RR with and without the box, its 7-8 bhp lower with the lid off

You ain't see the lack of air with the carbon plate though. Wasn't a problem at PS with the bonnet open

knew i had it somewhere, is that not the same thing?

Thats a Mugen cold air /ram air kit. nice positive pressure in the airbox giving free forced induction.

The carbon rad plate looks more like this:

here's one installed with a spoon snorkel, the spoon snorkel follows a similar profile to the recess in the bonnet and makes sure only codl air gets into the airbox

Now mine doesnt have the hole so not much for air to get into the airbox :(

Loads of good solutions for the engine though :)

i still think they look really nice.
not my thing as i've said many times i don't like Vtec but they are almost indestructable and a "classy" cabriolet IMHO.

What a coincidence, I was going to do an FAO Simon thread to see how the car was running in general and whats ownership like, as I am going to be test driving one next week at some point.

shiny cf induction kits look cool, you need one :D

sat in one today at the motorshow and was quite gutted as my legs were far too long to get comfy, with the seat right back. i'm only 6'0 aswell :(

Had it 1 month exactly and done 2500miles. Running absolutley perfect and used about half a litre of oil in all that time. Very happy.

Performance is pretty good, nice smooth power delivery and everyone who has seen it has been impressed and comments on it being a nice car. Engine is pretty flexible for everyday driving and you only need to really drop it a gear or two when you want to really make progress. Do miss the turbo grunt a bit but im getting used to it.
Engine is revvy, even in 6th gear it revs pretty high on the motorway, economy isn't great but maybe i expected to much from what is essentially a race engine. Last tank was 26mpg, but this is driving to and from work at 80-90mph, half the driving with the roof down which is like a parachute

Handling and brakes are very good even on the 18s. The handling does take some getting used to due to the passive rear steering that causes the car to twitch under transient throttle conditions.

Only real problem is insurance as it's expensive for the performance of the car. But it is a difficult car to drive and has certainly provided a new challenge to driving. No driver aids and a suspension setup that really punishs mistakes, key is to keep things smooth so you don't unbalance it.

i'm 6'2" and have no real issues with the comfort. I drove nearly 400 miles in one day (to Goodwood FOS) and felt pretty good, if a little sunburnt :D

Any more question let me know

Will, was yours an 02 model just before the facelift?

What did you think of the induction kit performance wise?

52 plate so got all the new geo stuff, the CAI free'd up 2 hp, was truely pants with regards to power but did certainly sound lush - not cheap mind although I believe there are some mugen copies around

To be fair they are more for maintaining power (no hot air issues like on the OE box) than making power.
