So, having spent the last year hunting for a replacement RHS fairing for my zx6r f3, without success, I was toying with the idea of streetfighter-ing it instead. The decision was made for me this morning courtesy of a patch of black ice, as all panels now have at least some damage on them (Not to mention no mirrors or indicators on one side...) and will now cost more to restore than the bike is worth.

So, anyway, the first thing I need to do is fix the bike. I pushed it home this morning, took some picks, and spent a couple of hours chilling out and am now here hoping for some advice. The only significant damage to the thing was the generator cover:

What concerns me is that the bike dropped all of its oil by the time I got to it. Is this normal? I assumed the generator was dry, but looking at a pattern parts place, there is a gasket in there.

Is it likely that I simply replace the gasket and cover and fill her back up with oil? Or does the fact that it dropped all the oil mean that there is something more fundamental broken within?

should have mentioned, the 97 is the second one down on that page :)

Edit - Damn, thats the ignition cover, though that was to good to be true.

I was impressed as I pushed my bike home, as at least half a dozen people stopped to check I was ok, not including the people that got out of their cars at the scene.

Incredibly, someone on another forum has a spare complete F series engine and has offered me the generator cover (And the coils if I need them) for free. Now I'm left amazed at what some people will do to to help a stranger. Faith in humanity restored.
