I've been wanting a new torch for a while, but I never found one that took my fancy. So when I saw this on ebay I thought I'd check it out.

I've already got some LED torches, one with 3 LED's and one with 27. Both torches are pretty lame, and not really comparable to a normal bulb torch.

However this baby's different. Its got 100 superbright LED's. Its nothing like my 2 million candle power torch as its not such a focused beam, but the light it does give off is perfect for general use. Plus its generally realy well built in solid aluminium. The only problem I had was internally the soldering was a bit rubbish on the back of the LED circuit board. It had a resistor soldered straight onto the board. A slight knock on the torch and this came off, so I added some extra wire and now its perfect.

Anyhoo, for £11 all in I'm well chuffed. Here it is.

Its ok, but not overly practical. Battery doesn't last long and its not all that portable.

Fine for blinding motorists or communicating with aliens!

My dad had a million something torch a few years back and while it was like having a pair of car headlights in ya hand the battery life was pathetic. Pretty much an emergency only torch, although one wonders why youd bother when you can get a perfectly good LED torch or maglite that lasts much much longer and doesn't require its own support vehicle to carry :p

Mine is the 2 million candle power torch. My dad got the 10 million candle power version. Its great.... for around 30 seconds, then it starts to dim.

I could do with getting a new LED torch; any chance of a shot of it (its beam against a wall or something) with no other lights on? I have a 25 LED one which is bright as it is :)
Pretty inconclusive as without anything to compare it to, it doesn't show much.

Suffice to say, its probably 4 time brighter than your 25 LED one. It is the only LED torch I consider comparable to a proper bulb torch though, and it has a far more useful beam pattern for general visiblilty. I would recommend it 100%, however be warned about the design of the soldering on the back of the PCB.

I have the 4 million candle torch. When I say it's bright I mean it's extremely bright. You can feel the heat from it from 20 feet away!

I couldn't like to see the 10 million candle one.
You'd be amazed how little difference you'd notice. Its in the realms of pointless. Just means your battery goes flat quicker.
