Finally got round to buying a bike last night,
In the end I went for a 1999 R6, went to see it last night and paid a deposit on it, picking it up at the weekend :D
The bikes got a few small mods done, but nothing major, just an exhaust, tail tidy, braided hoses etc. The bikes in excellent condition, hardly a mark on it. Its got 9700miles on the clock, recently had new tyres and chain done.
Sorry about the pic quality, its from the original ad.

I paid £2600 for it, originally up for £2695 which isnt too bad a price anyway.
Best part is insurance at 21 is less than £500 a year.

I really like the older R6s and R1s, the colours are more like the early 90s yams, and I love those things. I really want one of the snub nosed FZR600s one day, those are some pretty bikes.

Lovely bike you've got there :D

those idensit fridge freezers are beasts,

have you declared the fast defreeze option to the insurance company? I'm thinking you havent, I pay £1800 to insure mine and im 29!

OT again nice bike :D

Very nice , was looking at bikes last night and the older R6 is top of the list at the moment

Insurance wise I would imagine thata a third party only qoute at that price

TPFT, if I bin it myself, I wouldnt go through insurance anyway. Is it actually worth going FC?

Nah its not my house, its the sellers, I couldnt insure an idensit quite yet. Give me a few years though.

that pic has made me want to get in biking again!!

That insurance is very cheap for your age, at 21 (4 years ago) FC on a Fazer 600 i was quoted about £9K!!!!

just done a quote using your bike as a standard and its down to £330 TPFT!

Think im going to have to retake mt CBT, Theory and get my test passed. :D

Motorcycle direct are the cheapest ive found by far for insurance, I was surprised how little it was.

Draeger - Yeah I plan on taking it easy for awhile, hopefully this sunny weather will keep up.

Bug One - I was going to get a blue one, but this one came up first and it looks great. Virtually everyone of them around here is blue anyway.

Thats hardly been run in yet with that mileage! You have got an excellent buy there, enjoy it and respect its power and you will be fine :)

Nice low mileage

I nearly went for a 2002 R6 but I went for the Thundercat instead as it was a bit more comfy for longer trips and I would never be able to exploit the R6 - I hardly even get near exploiting the Thundercat.

Still... I'm changing my mind now - I want something like the R6 :p Though I might go back to a Kwak next year or try a Honda or Suzuki.

Great purchase and great price! Take it easy now ok? :)

My friends looking at buying a 1999-2002 ZX6R or 636, nice bikes, they were in the top 3 I was looking at. I had looked at a 2001 CBR600F Sport but the cheapest insurance was more than double R6, the kwak is only slightly more than the R6.
