My next card

Get a 8800GTX for £291 then a Quad Core if you can stretch to it. (Think the quad core is about £160 now, so only a bit more extra than what the Ultra costs!!)

Better off with a Q6600 and a GTX than a E6600 and a Ultra.

Ah right, well either get the OEM GTX and upgrade elsewhere (or....save the money!) or get the Ultra but really it's not worth the extra cost, it's more or less a overclocked GTX.

It's like £400 for a Ultra and 290 odd for the GTX, by no means is it worth the money.

GTX it is then:)

From having a Ati then next week going to a nvidia. With dealing with the drivers should i:

A) Use the driver cleaner i bought and do it that way

B) Format my pc and start a fresh with 100% no traces of ATI on my pc

Im not saying i dont have faith that driver cleaner wont do its job, but should i just be on the safe side.

P.S What is the official nvidia drivers called, like ATI are known as Catalyst.

Formating and starting clean/fresh on a PC is always good every now and then ;)

Im in the same boat as yourself, go for the GTX in fact I just brought one for £255 on the members market.

Ive had the GTX before there all pretty much generic and the same, and put it this way I dont belive there will be a 9800GTX in November either (according to all the info at least) but then its still 2-3 months away before we really find out.

If you can grab a GTX around £250 like I did then why not sell it back off for £240 in November just in case there is a better card ;)

And you then havent lost anything.... Either way if they dont u still have a top card if not the best card ;)

I thought long and hard about the 8800 gtx ut a 640mb 8800 gts overclocked to 650/2000 can almost touch the heels of a stock gts so is the price gap worth it i am not so sure.We can already see the 640mb 8800 cards prices slowly dropping my guess is that the gtx will follow suit isn't this always the case a few months before newer faster cards come along?.I paid £195 for my 640 i just cannot see how a gtx is worth £300 now when it's lifespan and resale value is limited.I would say by xmas you'll be seeing 2nd hand gtx's going for £230.
