The last time I posted about my ICE installation, it was when I had the old car. I think I left it at this stage...

Since then, I've replaced the sub box with a proper carpeted box and covered the MDF with carpet from my old car, heh. I've also found an alternate earth point, so that cable isn't running across like that anymore.

It alls looks pretty smart and I'm pleased with the performance of the sub, but something was lacking. The front speakers are Kenwood co-axials which were in when I bought the car.

They weren't doing too badly when I bought it, but a fair bit of abuse has found the speaker cone to have seperated itself from the rubber surround. This results in nice rattling and grinding noises when the bass hits at high volumes. Top end detail was great though. They aren't bad speakers.

Anyway, I'd been wanting some components for a while and had initially set myself up for some Infinity 6500CS's, which last time I checked were around £70.

Having a look around the Talk-Audio Forums the other week, I decided to check the classifieds and happened to come across some 605CS's for £45. Needless to say, I did a bit of searching, and after hearing good things about them, snapped them up.

I'll probably lose the sub for the time being and run them off the amp shown in the first picture. I'll either get another amp or replace that one with a 4 channel Genesis or something.

Just got to make some MDF mounting rings before I install them.

One question though, should I use dynamat/brown bread, and if so, where abouts in the doors should I put it?

That's some good advice Mark, thanks :)

If it's ok, I couldn't snag a demo of your setup at the meet could I? Really interested to see what it sounds like. Got a few songs which I think would be great for a quick blast.

I'm sure CAD sell both brown bread and dynamat don't they? Will check that out.

Its called home audio, lol!

:D Indeed it is.

It used to be an Eltax Sub 10. Bought it from RicherSounds for £60 many years ago. It served me well until I got my B&W 601's and didn't need the sub in the house any longer.

Started driving, bought a car and decided to strip the internal amp out of the sub box and wire the sub directly to the car amp. Had it like that for about a year before I decided to pick up a proper sub box.

Now running a cheap RM Audio sub which set me back a tenner on the 'bay. Would love to upgrade to an RE XXX later on though :D

LOL :D You're talking about turntables right? I've had my KAM's in the boot many a time... although that was during transportation.

Funny you should mention that though. Before I got a car, I had BIG plans to use all hi-fi equipment for the install. Have the boot full of power amps and have a hi-fi CD player mounted in the glove box. Spend a fortune on hi-fi speakers only to take the speakers out of the cabinets and put them in the doors. Oh, not forgetting the Servo 15 in the boot  :D
