Hi guys, so i recently upgraded my processor and motherboard and i'm now looking at the next bottleneck on my system in games.

My XFX 8800 GTS 320MB.

I've looked into it quite a lot, and although the 4850 is desirable i don't think the difference compared to my 8800 GTS is a good investment considering the price.

Now that the new NVidia cards are being released can we expect to see a decrease in the price of the 9800 GTX+ and 4850 512MB?

Thanks,
Dan

possibly. as you saw with the 280's which crashed down in price but that was expected. i cant see either card dropping by any significant amount

I might be misunderstanding this part so if thats the case disregard and forgive me but that 4850 should be plenty faster than your 8800GTS 320. Im going off memory but I remember reading several reviews showing my 8800GT 512 which is the newer core faster than not only your card but also the 8800GTS 640 and a 4850 is faster than my card by a bit.

They are lowering the price of the X2 4870 but im not sure just how much trickle down the other cards will see. Frankly for the money you cant beat the 4850. It is just a awesome little card for the small price tag.

It really comes down to what res you play at as the 4850 will be plenty unless you play at lets say 1920 or higher. The 4870 is also a good choice with lots of power.

I have a similar card at the moment (8800GTS 640mb). I've been looking at the 9800gtx or the 4870.

I'm probably going to be going for a 9800gtx+. Because their almost as fast in most games, you get physX thrown in pretty much for free, they use less power and they run cooler, and their much cheaper.

I also use water cooling so it will also be overclocked massively. :)

I did look at the 280s, but I just don't think their worth the money especially with a new version of directx on the way.
