My OCUK Overclock has stopped working

Hi,

Recently I have been having an issue with my computer not loading the OCUK overclock profile that came with my motherboard, CPU and RAM package (purchased back in November).

There have been no hardware changes at or around the time the OC profile stopped loading.

Symptoms; Computer boot up sequence stops just short of Windows booting. Hitting the re-set switch allows the machine to boot to windows and is perfectly usable, sans the OC.

I have had no cooling issues, even running CPU intensive games like FSX the processor (@4.4GHz) never gets above 50 degrees, and the air coming out of the exhaust fans is never more than warm).

As I will no doubt be asked here is the spec:
MSI 787-G45 Gaming motherboard
Intel i7 Haswell (4770k) processor
16GB (2x 8GB) RAM (Teamgroup Vulcan Red, 2133MHz)
x1 Toshiba 128GB SSD (OS)
x1 Samsung 250GB SSD (Games)
x1 Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB HDD (backup and general use)
GTX780 (MSI Gaming edition) Graphics)
Onboard Audio
Texas Instruments USB 3 PCI (powered)
LG IPS 27EA53 Monitor (DVI-D)
Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme heat sink
Antec P193 V3 x1 200mm side intake fan, x2 140mm top fan, x1 120mm rear fan exhaust fans.
x2 Be Quiet 120mm intake fans in the front of the case
Corsair 750w Modular PSU

Connected at the moment via USB:
G9 Gaming mouse
Steel Series 6G V/2 Keyboard
ADATA 2TB External HDD (powered)

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Have you gone in to the BIOS to see if the OC profile has been loaded. Something has obviously upset her.

Yeah that's one of the first things that I did, but even though the OC profile loaded and it told me that it was running at the supplied 4.4GHz it had re-set by the time it reached windows (as in the post BIOS update re-set).

Could this be a driver issue? (as in auto updates in windows).

After you mentioned the Customer service forum I noticed that in order to test it properly CPU-Z and prime-95 are needed (I'm new to overclocked machines so these applications were unknown to me).

Anyway CPU-Z seemed to show a core speed of 4.4GHz, but Windows (Win 7 64bit) only shows 3.5 (am I to assume this is a feature of Windows).

So the overclock is working, however it still does not explain the mystery halt on start-up and then everything OK after the re-set button is pressed.

The cpu speed will change due to power saving probably, so under load (prime 95) it bumps it up to max speed, when idle (desktop/low use) it will be lower, windows may well be reporting the lower speed.

As to the halt on start up, that would normally say to me that the OC is unstable. It could have become unstable over time, and simply need one notch higher on the Vcore or something. But, I would phone OCUK/talk to them in the CS forum and ask them what to do

How have you got on?

Well as I posted CPU-Z says all is well:

So just the boot issue to sort.

I'm going to see if its a dicky PSU causing the issue tomorrow afternoon when I get home from work (swapping things around and unplugging non essentials on the Modular PSU) and if that isn't it I will be making a call to OCUK's tech support line to see if they can help out.

Thanks for the responses so far.
