Not sure but i dont think its working right when i got it the QPI used to say 3.8 ghz but now its far lower, i havent touched the bios at all and havent mucked about with the OC program that came with the mobo, is there something i can do to change it back?

Download and run this for a min, and have cpu-z open at the same time, and you will see once the cpu is put underload the speed will raise to 3.8ghz.

Its a power saving feature called intel speed step, when the cpu is idling the speed and volts will reduce to save power.

It looks like speedstep as the voltage is pretty low and so is the multi - leave CPU-Z open and run something and see if the frequency jumps up.

good program to run is prime95.

I noticed this when I installed Windows 7 yesterday, my phenom sits around 1.8ghz then back up to 3ghz when under load. I haven't installed anything to do this so I assume it's a Windows feature?

Ran a quick prime and it only jumped to 2.8ghz in CPu-Z, same when i ran the beta for FF 14, Oc was supposed to be 4ghz or as close to that as possible.

Looks like it's lost the overclock to me, yes it's in speedstep in that picture (Multiplier is at 12), when at load the multiplier will hit 21. 21 X 133 =2.8GHz (21 x 200 would be 4.2GHz).

I don't know what bus speed Overclockers use for your overclock, but my i7 920 was 200. If it's a gigabyte board, you may need to reload the saved overclockers profile, and then go into the BIOS and accept the new settings.

I've had my i7 920 for over a year now, and it's twice forgotten it's OC, but it was a trivial fix, and it's been superb bar that.

Edit: If your overclock was supposed to be 4GHz your bus speed should be ~190 not 133.

Both amd and intel have this feature, its a cpu feature.

AMD = Cool & Quiet
Intel = Speed step

Sounds like the bios profile for the Overclock is'nt loaded up, reboot and enter the bios, and go to the OC profile section, there should be on saved there called Ocuk or something like that, choose it, and save and exit.

If there is no profile there, contact OCuk either by phone, or via webnote or the customer service section on the forum (its near the bottom)

the bus speed should either be 191 or 200

this happens every once in a while. gigabyte put the clr cmos switch at the back of the board

this sometimes gets pressed in transit and resets the bios.

all you need to do is go into the bios

press F12

and then load the OCUK profile :)

your motherboard manual will show you exactly what to do to load the profile if you get stuck.

if you need any more assistance then pop a post into the customer support section of the forums HERE and i will do my best to help :)

^^ This worked for me both times on my UD5.

That seemed to work, QPI is sitting at about 3.4 ghz bus speed at 191 Mhz did jump to 4ghz when i logged in, though when i was in the bios i looked in the MIT ? bit and said something about failed boots due to OC in a warning message.

T bit and said something about failed boots due to OC in a warning message.

sounds liek the bios just reset. it comes up as a failed clcok if you plug it into a different power supply sometimes.

depends on the board. the old UD5 we used to use did it all the time but the UD3R does it a lot less.

like i said above, if you are struggling then hit me up in customer support and i will help you as much as i can :)
