So my 24pin extension came today.
With the second motherboard fitted, the system failed to boot (constantly restarting in a loop) so I did a few experiments with the RAM.
I found that it:
- won't boot with four sticks of Corsair XMS2 fitted.
- will boot with each stick of XMS2 installed individually.
- will boot with any two or three sticks of XMS2 installed.
- will boot with two sticks of XMS2 and two sticks of G.Skill DDR2 installed.
I am completely dumbfounded by this. Could these four sticks of XMS2 not playing nicely together be the cause for the BSOD's, lockups and cutouts with the other motherboard installed?
All of these modules passed a few extended passes on memtest as well. Just to clarify.
Help?
I'm almost at my wits end with this, I am totally dumbfounded... It couldn't be easy could it?!
