Have my old rig at GF's as im there a lot and recently got net in the house so steam was installed straight away.

Was very surprised to find my old rig can still play Blops 3 at 60FPS at medium settings - Not in HD though as its not an HD monitor - Res is low by today's standards.

Going to try IW and Fallout 4 over weekend but not expecting the same results - Could anyone recommend a decent upgrade to this GPU or other based on below?

Windows 7 64 bit
Intel I7 870 LG1A156 Socket
6 GB DDR3 RAM
2.93 GHZ
Various size hard disks only 1 SSD 128GB for OS Crucial SSD M4
G5800 Motherboard
HD7850 IceQ X 2048MB GDDR5
Cooler Master modular silent pro 700w 80 plus bronze

Upgraded this years ago with advice from you chaps :)

main question would be what price do you have in mind? And preference of new or 2nd hand?

how about upping that screen to a 1080p panel too if its within budget?

new or 2nd hand but but not looking to spend a lot maybe £100 tops.

Screen I may up to 1080P later on but its not a main focus just now due to room.

I agree a 1080p panel even if you had to lower settings would be a great advantage!

For £100 I think your looking at a 960 from the mm or bay, or the 1050? I'm not well versed in what you can get from the red side for around £100? A rx380?

Thanks for that guys - Dont have access to the MM yet I need to get more posts unless the rules have changed?

I know a panel would be ideal but don't really have the space at the moment its only a small house and its packed already :)

May try picking up a cheaper one as well as a card - Thinking of upping the RAM to.

Any other suggestions welcome though or recommendations.

Sorry to revive this thread but I have upped the RAM a little to 10gb and sourced a 1080p panel - I am stuck though as to what GFX cards I should be looking at.

I think around a 4gb GPU would be suffice as this is only the odd playing machine - My main PC has all the expensive stuff lol

Have been looking at RX560's and 1050ti's is there anyhting better I could get for a little less or a little more? PSU is 700W

if you're not bothered about buying used then 970s go for around 130-150ish, think 7850s can be sold for about 50 quid too.

I got a 970 for £120 and wow what a difference Fallout 4, Quake Champions , Witcher 3, R6 Siege I cant believe this old i7 paired some with more RAM and a better GPU is still running so well :)

glad to hear, if you do upgrade your CPU down the line, should notice extra 10 fps average :D

whats your i7 clocked at ? managed to push my i7 860 to 4ghz - cooled with a 480 rad haha

Thanks Dude, Yeah its only the backup rig so I probably wont upgrade but its just stock 2.93 I think - Its the stock motherboard that came with the PC so dont think I could overclock on that one but pushing it so 3.odd sounds tempting :) Thats a crazy clock you have haha

was with asus rog formula 2! haha, sold that board for a lot of cash to start of the year :D

if you can, overclock it, you'll find that speed is limiting you with modern games - there was quite a jump in chip design from 1st gen to 2/3rd and reason why you see Min specs on games listing 2nd gen intels.

crack open the case and google the board
