Afternoon all, eventually got my new build up and running and ive moved everything off my old system on to the new one so I want to remove windows 7 from the old one and format the hard drive

HOW CAN I DO IT????

Thanks

Remove the drive from the old system and temporary install in you new system (but double check the boot order) then once in Windows format the drive.

Leave it for a month or so, just in case the new system suffers infant mortality and goes pop.

If you are going to sell the drive on however, formatting does not fully erase the contents of the drive. For that you will need to use an erasing tool such as Eraser, DBAN or HDShredder.

A full format using a modern version of Windows will zero the drive.

ill get the old drive out the pc at some point then Format it when I get round it it ... Weeks maybe Months time haha

Having to much fun on this new system

sorry to be a pest but I've tried hooking my old drive in to my new system using the SATA to USB cable and the light comes on so there's power but it doesn't show up

could this be to do with there both labelled C drive?

I've put it back in to the old unit and tried to change it in Disk Management but it says something about parameters :|

Check disk management in the new system and assign it a drive letter.

Alternatively boot off the windows cd in your old system and just delete the partitions and create / format a new one if you need it.
