Have a budget of _800 to £1000, no GPU. I use it for gaming having many browse tabs open and data engineering. I must have min 32 gig memory.
People are telling me to go amd. I tried to find the equivalent amd to i5 14600k and it came up more expensive.
Pci gen 5 a must.

I think I have good a good price to pc ratio.

Might give them a call and have a chat about the board and chip.

I never just upgraded the chip and keep the board. I always up grade everything. So performance over not future upgrade is more important, as the pc normally has a life span of 3/4 years with me. Then I just buy complete new system.

I will ask them about the new chip if it is worth the cost.

The storage I'll swap for the 2tb for an extra £24., I do need another HDD not worried about speed

The reason I suggest avoiding 13th-14th isn't because of the upgrades, but because of this stuff (if you're not aware):

So far as I know, it didn't impact the 14600K as much, but if it was me I'd just rather avoid them entirely if I had to buy Intel, now that there's an alternative. 12th gen are fine.
Ok I'll give the shop a call on Monday.

I hoping the board this far away in time with have an update, I'll speak with them. I'll probably go pick it up . Had so many problems with DPD, that I now need to drive to collect it.

If you want to keep it.

After the bad news stories, Intel offered an extended warranty on retail boxed 13th-14th gen -K CPUs (5 years).

If you're happy with that, I'd just update the BIOS when you receive the motherboard, to ensure you have applied Intel's latest BIOS & microcode fixes.
Thanks for your input.
