Right, so I was sitting pretty at 3.0ghz on my cpu for 3 days when suddenly, when I booted it up the next day, it booted up, shut down, booted up , shut down, booted up, shut down (all in the space of 15 seconds) , then booted into windows.

Im guessing that was to overide the overclock?

Why would it do this?

Im a noob to ocing by the way :)

Done 30 mins of that intel thing, and it was a-ok.

Ive put the overclock back up to 3.00ghz and it seems to be smooth, see how it gets on later :)

What mobo do you have? I used to get this with my old Gigabyte mobo, stable for months and then it'd reset itself to stock. I had to increase the RAM voltage and NB voltage a notch to get it to keep the clock.

I have an AbitIP35 pro and Q6600. I modestly oc'd it to 2700 and every so often upon restart it reverts to stock speed. I've no idea why!!

Probably due to it not being stable.
You can get this to just over 3Ghz easily with an FSB of 335Mhz. Ensure your voltages are set correctly and that your RAM is at the correct speed/ratio.

mine has doen that before - on a stable clock of 3ghz on my old e6300

luckily my bios allows me to save 2 different overclocking profiles

so its all good

Dont you need 375mhz because the multiplier on the chip is x8 - unless im missing something?
