Just in case anyone is interested :)

Am currently at 2Ghz, on the specs below, processor is a bit toasty at just under 70 under load, contemplating a new processor fan at the moment, but will see after I get the HDD conversion kit meaning another 120mm fan as an intake. Also currently at 1.45 volts I believe, will see how much further we can go tomorrow, 2.8 being the goal :) Anyone got any comments/ suggestions let me know

You shouldn't need 1.45V to reach 2GHz, you won't even need that to reach 3GHz unless it's an absolute stinker of a chip.

That chip should hit 3GHz on stock voltage, my advice would be to turn that down before you do some damage!

You should only ever turn up voltages on PC components when they don't boot or are not stable at stock voltages.

Thats a nice specced PC you got there in your sig, work of semi-pro me thinks? :p

Heh ok fair enough, thanks for the advice guys, yeah specced by myself and PinkFloyd, very very good for what it cost me, but am looking at a quad now, lol xD

lol yeah thats what made me think about it, heh. Dropped the volts down to 1.35 now, chip running a lot cooler

Hmm, got to 2.3, then it froze under Orthos at 2.4, not sure whether its the volts or whether its the memory timings, any ideas? Timings are at 5 5 6 20

It might be the motherboard if its the DS3 and not the DS3P due to 1066FSB rather than 1333 on the DS3P, maybe drop the HTT multiplyer to 4x see if it still does it.

Memory frequency?

If his board is a rev 3.3 then it supports 1333 fsb ;)

Try slacker mem timmings and what volts have you got on the MCH and FSB ?

Rev 3.3 :) Both are +0.1, gonna try setting the timings to 5 5 5 15 as thats what they're specced at on the GeIL site. Memory frequency is at 417.5 at the moment, could be that the memory dioesn't like being clocked that high, since its value RAM, however thats on 2.5 multi, set it to 2 multi and it won't boot at all

Quick update, still on stock voltages, set the memory timings to 5 5 5 15, and am currently at 2.5 nice and stable. Memory is at 358, and temps are about 45 idle and 55 load

Had a similar problem when i was clocking my e6300. I re-installed the arctic cooler along with a tiny bit of thermal material and saw my idle temps drop form 55 to 43. Im using a volatge of 1.315 for the overclock. im pretty sure if i lower it further the clock would be stable. 1.4+ is very high indeed.

An E6300 should easily be able to hit 3GHz, my friend has his at 3.33GHz on stock volts. At 1.45 he can hit 3.69, but has cooling problems :D

thats true, i have hit 3.5Ghz stable on 1.385V([email protected]), ran prime 95 for 13 hours without errors, memtest was normal. only major problem is heat. was idling@ around 55+ and thats because i do not have very good case cooling.

Im happy as long as its stable at 3Ghz :D.

Ive not been as lucky as some of ya'll - 1.425v's to get 3ghz stable. Has anyone here tried increasing the FSB voltage? Im hitting 70c under load atm but it is kinda hot so...
