So... got my new rig. Wanting to overclock it but don't want to make it too loud... so trying to keep the CPU under 45 degrees
Thought I'd keep a log of what I've done and what performance boosts it gave so that others could see what actually makes a difference.
The rig is:
CPU: AMD X2 3800+ Toledo core
RAM: 2GB G.Skillz CAS2 PC3200
Mobo: ASUS A8R-MVP
HSF: Arctic 64Pro
1st thing I did was notice that the command latencies were 2T instead of 1T (as many people recommend)...
Sisoft Sandra 2007 gave me:

Which is quite a big boost in memory bandwidth... all the other tests were roughly the same though...
Next thing: FSB overclocking
Done the FSB overclocking... seems stable, going to leave it on overnight stability testing. All figures have gone up by 5% across the board (well, 4.8% but thats close enough )
