My Parrot died today :(

My very pretty boy Indian Ringneck died today, he was 10 and a half years old.

I noticed this morning he wasn't his usual chatty self and when I returned from work, I gave him his usual food which he didn't touch, he also seemed weak/lethargic, contacted vet who suggested to keep an eye on him and bring him in tomorrow morning. A few hours later I checked up on him and he was just hanging by one claw on his rope like a bat. He passed away in my hands a few hours ago.

Thanks for all the kind messages, walked into the living room only to see his empty cage, like being punched in the gut twice.

Pet's mean more to you than you even realise.

Another more recent photo for those wondering why they are called ringnecks, males do indeed have a ring around their necks He was very inquisitive, playful and had a decent vocabulary (mainly swear words)

Sorry for the loss of your friend, but imagine spending 10yrs in a cage and not in the trees where they should be.

You don't know much about parrots do you, his cage was open, he got to fly around his rooms all he wanted, and he'd return to his cage when he wanted too. Most of the time he would choose to stand on my shoulder or head when ever I was sat down on the PC or sofa. He loved taking trips to the bathroom so he could talk to himself in the mirror.
