Hey guys,

My Vista Ultimate x64 gaming rig freezes periodically for about 6 seconds when I use or switch on a usb device. It most commonly happens when I switch on my printer :(

I've got a Gigabyte P35-DS3R w/F12, but I think it could be my .inf file that's out of date and causing the problem? The driver on the Gigabyte site looks quite old and I'm sure Intel have released something since then. I've looked on the Intel website but I don't know which driver I should use - the Intel chipset identifier only works on Vista x32.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

SW.

When you note that the PC freezes, is it totally unresponsive until the USB thingy has done its thing...?
Cheers mate - I'll give that link a go ;)

Yeah, in the case of my printer anyway, Windows freezes until the printer (Epson DX600) has initiated/gone through its startup song and dance etc. Really annoys me, especially if I'm trying to multitask :p

It appears all my freeze/lockup problems were down to a dodgy sata/raid driver...

I updated the .inf too, but the problem remained.

All my hard/optical drives are sata and after updating to the latest version from the Gigabyte website all my problems have vanished ;)
