When I am using my PC for a few hours, it automatically switches to a lower screen resolution mode.
Why?

Maybe it hates you? on another note are you using latest graphic drivers? are things cool enough? i mean i maybe totaly wrong, which i expect, but if the graphics card is getting too hot would it revert to a lower res to reduce strain on it to control how hot it is getting?

It must be the GPU,when I run 3DMARK VANTAGE,towards the end I am getting flickering screens and lines travelling up and down.
Looks like I have to send it back.

Do you need to send it back or is it a cooling issue or maybe your psu what psu have you got i'm no expert but surely a 4870x2 gonna demand a lot of power also generate a fair chunk of heat :)

I am using an enermax 1000,I don't think power is an issue.
Also cooling is a watercooled corei7920,
2 intake fans one noctuaS12 as exhaust.
And 2fans cooling the radiator. All 4 controlled byNZXT SENTRY LX and exhaust by MB.
Also the large 200mm fan at the side odf the cosmoc s case.
