HI all. As you might no I have had problems in past with my PC. In games it would look like Aliasing not working and when stood still textures would be jaggy but when moving the camera either in FPS or 3rd person they would go smooth. Also having bad shimmering. I have had it for about 1 year and been driving me mad trying different ways to get rid of it. I tried formatting my PC with the windows 7 home what I got with my PC and even bought windows 8 pro when that came out but nothing. I formatted 100 of times but no look each time. I even done it with upgrade to windows 10 but that didn't work either spending 5 hour days with installing updates lol.

Any way today I decided to get a USB and put windows 10 on clean install using ISO. I formatted over my windows 10 what was already upgraded from windows 7 Home. I couldn't believe how quick it was at installing and installing updates etc. About 20 mins. I put Elite Dangerous on and set all my graphics to ultra. I couldn't believe it straight away no slow down or skipping. I noticed the jaggy edges where gone too and texture pop ins.

Does this mean that both disc or disc drive could have been damaged and it was that what was causing the problems?.

Even tried GTAV now as well as that was worst with shimmering edges and fences and pop ins. That's all fixed all ultra apart from AA which is MSSAx2 and MFAA ticked in NVidia control panel. With advanced distance set to full and grass high. Wish I had a vid of be for and after to proof what I am talking about. hehe.

Also it only takes 8 seconds to login to windows 10. Another 1 second to boot from there.

Saved my self £1000 +
Happy Happy :D

event viewer

This would have told you if the HDD was on it's way out. It's easy to tell when they are broken, slows the whole machine down.

Not changed anything with HDD or SSD both are the same what ive been using all this time. Just got a USB stick and put on windows 10 ISO. So that why I think it either disc it self or my DVD drive.

Also I updated the NVidia drivers first thing I did every time. :)

Also where do you look in event viewer to see if SSD, HDD, or DVD drive etc is faulty?.

Thanks.

I looked in Event viewer and only place I get errors are Administrative Events. I have quite a couple of Red a Yellow errors. Under windows logs in there everything is fine and working with no errors in each of the 5 folders.

The errors in Administrative Events are just when I first turn on my PC. They are just network error and window update error. This is due to on the log in screen when signing in my internet connection doesn't come on straight away and takes about 3 seconds. Just now checked and first time turning it on this morning I have 4 yellow warnings. 2 network problems and 2 windows update.

The red error is Metadata staging faild, result=0x80070490 for container '{1816C3D-4B92-9546-oC80287BE89B

At some point I will be getting a new HDD for games and this is what I was going to get.

Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive

does this matter has my motherboard not got 6.0Gb as its a 3.0GB?. Thanks.
