My PC is randomly locking up, how can I find out why?

Hi, my specs are in my sig to start off with.

My Pc had recently being locking up on my, no blue scree of death, no beeps, just plain-old not responding mouse frozen displace on ram inactivity.

I think that is may be related to internet activities. It seems to lockup when I have being running Azureus for an hour or so.

The freezing I don't think is heat related as my CPU is 35C on idle and graphics card is 45C on idle.

I think it could either be my RAM or Network card.

Is there anyway to find out why windows has frozen at a particular time. I have been in logging but I don't know what I'm looking for.

Could you lot help me out?

check the event log for any program crashes (they are the red ones)

you're just gonna have to slowly eliminate possible factors i.e swap out the NIC and run memtest if you thinng these are at fault.

perfnet seems to crash a lot at the times of the lock-ups.

What mobo do you have? If it is a 680, then keep an eye on any memory leak from that P2P apps. Do you have virtual memory disabled?

I have the DFI infinity board, the only one that was available a week after the c2d was released. 975x/g it is called.

I have just at the moment disabeled my PCI NIC and installed a USB network device, wireless ofcourse and it has been going for an hour without freezing.

I don't know exactly what is causing the freezing though.

Oh and yes I do have virtual memory enabled.

I have disabled perfnet now and the errors are gone from the log but my PC is still freezing.

I ran memtest twice and it came up zero erros twice. I'm about to do a HDD test for both Hds.

The problem with freezing happened again after I reenabled my network card. I really think that it may be the problem. I'm about to update all my other drivers now as well.

If it does turn out to be my network card what do you think of this; Linksys
