I was on XP(I had partitioned my 400GB HDD to 120GB for OS/progs and 280 for storage).XP loaded fast enough, but when it was loading my desktop,it was really slow,it needed like 15 minutes to load my ZA firewall,nod32 and everything else and everything popped up at the same time(after a few restarts/resets it was fixed somehow). In the meantime the system wasnt responsive,if I tried to open a IE it would open after like 2 minutes.I got Vista, created another 30Gb partition on my 120Gb OS drive and vista was running fine.I deleted the 30Gb partition last night, formated my 120Gb partition and installed Vista.I still have the same problem. It is not taking so much time to load, but for a fresh install it is still slow.My HDD is 2 months old.Can anyone help?:(

Try un-installing Zone Alarm and using an alternative Firewall. I couldn't recommend a new firewall as my one of choice (Comodo) is not compatible with Vista.

if you're behind a router just use windows built in one, should work well enough just to find out if it is the problem
