has anyone come accross a computer that fully hangs and then wont post unless cmos is reset ? ever ? as i cant find any of such problems on the internet.

this is exactly what happens with my c2d rig, all wiring up was done by dan-tek computer shop therefore i doubt its that, psu seems to work fine, checked all wiring again and no problems.

the cpu and voltage temps were all fine, as showed in TAT when i left it running throughout a gaming session.

all temps extremely low.

whats just occured to me could the system run out of ram as i turned the pagefile completely off, however surely a reboot would solve this without needing a cmos reset ?

given up on it totally now, it wont even post after taking everything out, cmos resetting, and putting everything back in!!!

i need to rma something i guess but dont have a clue what, i cant send the

cpu
psu
motherboard
ram
hdd
fans
case
graphics card

all back to ocuk to be tested can i!!!

im reeally wound up as this lot cost me over a grand after paying the shop, where its going back after they reopen 2nd jan!

im not up to speed on pagefile stuff but are you alllowed to turn that off thought you had to have some ?????

still that wouldnt explain the f\ct it wont even post. is there no live at all ??? you cant even get into bios ??? fans spinning up ?

the fans spin up but stay on full rpm and it just sits there doing that for an eternity with the first keyboard light on. the mouse optical bit lights up aswell.

Hi,

Have you checked that your RAM is running within spec? What timings is it running at by default in your rig?

The symptoms you describe are almost certainly RAM related.

i cant get it to post or boot into bios anymore so i have no idea, i set multiplier to to and left ram settings on auto, also it wouldnt post on 2.1v that geil recommends, only 1.8v default...
