My PCI-E has 2 PCI Slots. Should I just get the Xonar D2 PCI?

... rather than forking out an extra £25 for the D2X PCI-E? It seems pointless spending more if I can buy the cheaper card and have it work?

It seems common sense to me, but wanted to confirm it here; there might be something I'm missing.

Edit: Thread title should say "PCI-E Mobo"

If you don't need the PCI-E card then get the PCI one. I've been researching this card after someone recommended it to me. The PCI-E version requires the use of a floppy-drive power connector because the PCI Express bus doesn't provide the correct power to the card and those connectors are rare on modern PSU's (plus a pain to re-route cables). Also the PCI-E version only uses a bridge chip to convert the PCI-E to the PCI interface of the card so it isn't a native PCI Express card.

if you have a PCI slot free then get a PCI sound card. The PCI express sound cards are great if you dont have any PCI slots free because of more than one large graphics cards.

I have the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude and i recommended that.

Im going for the PCIe as I have 2 PCI cards and newer Mobos seem to have fewer and fewer PCI slots and it can be used in ANY of the PCIe slots so should allways have a slot free for it.
