Today, I was out and about and on my way back to the car I saw a very grumpy man who was shouting to another woman that her car had blocked his in. The lady said nowt and moved her car and drove away.

The guy then gets back in his car and reverses out, putting his drivers side into another car that knacked the wing mirror and dented the side.

He clearly stopped, looked at what he had done before trying to drive away.

I put myself in front of the car and yet more grump tirades from him when I challenged him over it.

I politely told him that he had clipped the other car and he had to leave his details. ' Did I ' he asks unconvincingly.

Yes you did and I saw it happen. You have to leave your details because you are at fault.

* grump blah *

He grudgingly wrote a note and left it in the windscreen wiper and I left my mobile no after he left as a witness.

It grates me beyond measure it when people clip cars and drive off and I sympathise with anyone who it happens to.

Anyone here had this done to their cars ?

Girlfriend came back to her car to find a ding in the drivers side where someone had opened their car door into hers.

There were even finger marks in the dust where the culprit had run their fingers over the dent to see how bad it was.

No note, message or details left behind.

I was peeved!

I was sitting in my car displaying info for parking/payment and someone pulled up next to me, some guy (The husband it seemed) got out of the passenger side and opened his door into the side of my car with a hell of a lot of force.

He didn't know I was in the car and I confronted him about it, which to my surprise netted me a lot of swearing and shouting as if I was in the wrong to confront him.

Glad I was in the car.

Have come back to my car with a wheel arch so warped out of shape that the door didn't open. Thought it was still locked till I had to pull hard and hear a big creaking sound as it metal-to-metaled.

Work colleague came back to his car with the whole back end destroyed, light clusters, bumper etc. Never found out who hit and run it.

Apart from door/trolley dents I've been quite lucky on my last couple of cars. A friend who had my old Civic had someone cave in the side whilst it was parked outside his house one night, no details left. He bought a Mondeo TDCi after that and some cretin did the same thing to the front wing within days of buying it.

Yes this happened to me and my old Focus, I don't know how it happened obviously but one day there just appeared from nowhere a fist sized dent just above my rear bumper on the drivers side corner, it could have been there for days for all I know, couldn't have happened at work so either outside my house or at the supermarket, seriously wasn't amused

Re grumpy man mentioned above and the tin hat that did mine, I say what goes around comes around! I really really hope so anyway...

I had a Passat from helphire a few years ago, parked it on a London street and somebody must have reversed in to it and put a huge dent in the door - they never left a note.

Luckily it popped out of its own accord magically one evening  - otherwise I'd have been left to pick up the bill .

One day I was sat in my car (last Impreza I had) in a car park in merry hill replying to a text message before going shopping. A guy in a Volvo drove past me so close that he hit my drivers mirror, not expecting it I jumped out my skin, glass in the mirror was ok but the mirror had folded with the impact.

The guy carried on and didn't stop - went looking for a parking space. I had a look at the mirror and the casing was scratched with a big thick mark, clearly paint damage there, so I walked up to the Volvo and by then he'd parked. I said you just hit my mirror and he said nothing but walked over to my car, looked at the casing and said "just polish it", he smiled and then walked off. No sorry, no here's my details, no negotiation - just walked off and the smug smile really riled me.

So, I got back into my car and waited.

After a few minutes I got out, went over to his Volvo and got my own back.

Good on you. Immature and dropping to their levels but its the only way to feel better and show them how much a of a James Blunt they are.

This annoys me immensely. Had it happen to a lot of my cars over the years. I've seen people open doors onto our car like they are trying to make it barrel roll over. I've had this happen with me in it. I confronted a women about it very politely holding back my anger, and she just went into "I'm the victim mode" and reported me to a local security guard in Tesco car park. WTF?!

Walked out to our car the other day and someone has clearly reversed/drove into the front bumper:

1 x New front bumper as it's not repairable
1 x Front nearside headlight cluster as its smashed
= ££££ hence claim on my insurance.

Then I get to pay my excess of £300 and lose my no claims. All because of some ignorant person that has no respect for other peoples property.

Last one I promise... other day I was outside the chemist and saw some women in a People carrier trying to parellel park in a fairly tight one by going in frontwards. I could just see she was going to hit the poor clio she was edging up closer to. I could hardly believe my ears and eyes when she hit it so hard that it jerked forward and hit the car in front of it! It was like she deliberately kept going to move it! Unbelievable. I left a note on the Clio with her reg details and my contact details. I hate to be a busy body butting into things like this, but it winds me up and people need to pay up.

I'm one of those a**eh***s that takes up 2 bays whenever I have the oppurtunity...

I'd rather be hated than cough up for bodywork repairs...so sue me!

Yes some dopey old codger bumped my ZR in a Morrisons car park, my missus was in the car but didn't realise what had happened until he drove off, I came back and she told me I was livid. thankfully he didn't do any damage.

I hate it when people just drive off.

Good on your for collering him.
